I’m back again…mixing up my love of Young Living essential oils with my love of DIY. Today I’m going to share with you my favorite recipe for a DIY body wash. Most homemade body washes lack sudsy bubbles. I’m personally a big fan of the bubbles and I like that you still get that with this body wash.
So let’s get started by taking a look at the frightening ingredients list in a common store bought body wash.
Water;Glycerin;Cocamidopropyl Betaine;Glycine soja (soybean) oil;Sodium Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate;Sodium Laureth Sulfate;Lauric Acid;Sodium Chloride;Sodium Cocoyl Glycinate;Fragrance;Sodium Lauroyl Isethionate;Stearic Acid;DMDM Hydantoin;Citric Acid;Guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride;Palmitic Acid;Sodium isethionate;BHT;Tetrasodium EDTA;Methylisothiazolinone;Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate;Etidronic Acid;Titanium Dioxide;Behenyl oleate;Sodium Hydroxide;C10-16 Alcohol Ethoxylate;Sodium Sulfate;Coconut oil fatty acids polyethylene glycol diester;Peg-5 cocoate;Myristic Acid;Capric Acid;Polyethylene glycol;Sodium Carbonate;Trisodium nta;Ethylenediaminetriacetic Acid;Fatty acids coco;Glycine sodium salt;Coconut fatty acid sodium salt
For those not looking to conduct a science experiment each time you take a bath, give this simple recipe a try. With just a few pure ingredients of; Castile soap (water, coconut oil, potassium hydroxide {PH adjuster}, palm kernel oil, olive oil, hemp oil, jojoba oil, citric acid, and tocopherol {vitamin E}), Vitamin E, Essential Oils, and Vegetable Glycerin, this is a much better option. Plus you get the added benefit of the skin support that Young Living essential oils can provide!
Ingredients:
- 4oz glass bottle with pump dispenser (I like these)
- 3oz Castile Soap
- 7 drops Vitamin E Oil (I purchased this brand. It’s a lot of money up front, but it has lasted me a year and I haven’t even used half of it)
- 2 tsp Vegetable Glycerine
- 10-15 drops Young Living Essential Oil
Directions:
Combine all ingredients. Swirl to mix before each use.
